Short Holiday

When going on a short holiday, the hardest things to organise are the when and where. Finding time to take a break between your busy schedule can be tough, especially if you have a partner (and kids) who have to get time off from their everyday activities too. Similarly, finding a place for your holiday that everyone agrees on can be a lot of hard work, with so many options.

Both when and where will also be effected by a third factor, budget. If you DO have children, chances are the only time you will get away is during the school holidays. These periods are always more expensive, both for travel and for accommodation. And if you DO have a busy lifestyle, holidays won't be all that frequent, meaning you will probably want to go somewhere special, which won't be cheap.

Because of this, it is important to ensure your budget can handle the short break. If you are struggling to get funds, one idea is to try fundraising to make up the money to pay for your trip. There are a number of things you can do which will earn you extra cash, and the kids can get involved too which will make the experience all the more worthwhile.

Ideas For Fundraising

There are numerous ideas to help you raise the money for your trip. The first thing to do is work out exactly how much you want to raise. This will ensure that your goals are clearly defined, and you know exactly what you're working towards. Once you have done this, you can look at the various fundraising options out there, and decide which ones are most suitable for you.

Lamington drives - Selling lamingtons can be a great way to earn a few bucks, as everyone always has space in the cupboard for food. And it's one of those things that people don't buy that often but when given a chance, they love to. Don't limit yourself though, maybe offer pies or other pastries also.

Raffle tickets - Raffles are one of the best ways to make money. They give people a chance to win a great prize (such as a holiday, ironically) while only spending a small amount of money. Plus raffles are so associated with fundraising that people's generosity is always brought out.

Movie Nights - These are a great fundraising idea, and are enjoyable for everyone who participates. Organise a movie night at your house, or a hall, put on some cheap nibblies and drinks, and charge everyone a fixed amount for a ticket.

Chocolate fundraising - Another beauty, selling chocolates is always a success. Most people are a sweet tooth, and can't so no to a box of chocolates, especially if it's for charity. Cadbury fundraising are most popular opportunities, but there are several out there so look around.
